Summer 2009



An Official Withdrawal withdraws you from all classes for all sessions that have not been completed. The Official Withdrawal Deadline is the "last day of the classes" for the session. For example, if you are enrolled in Session 1 and Session 3 classes, the following shows the withdrawal deadlines:

May 18 - June 26 An official withdrawal would withdraw you from all Session 1 and Session 3 classes.
June 29 - August 7 An official withdrawal would withdraw you from all Session 2 and Session 3 classes.

May 20 Deadline to register to take the Advanced Composition Exam scheduled for June 3, 2009
May 25 Memorial Day Holiday
June 3 Advanced Composition Exam
June 15 Application deadline for students who plan to graduate at the end of Summer 2009
June 23 Last day for petitions to the Academic Standards Committee June 26th meeting
June 26 Meeting of the Academic Standards Committee
July 1 Deadline to register to take the Advanced Composition Exam scheduled for July 15, 2009
July 15 Advanced Composition Exam
July 31 Final copies of master's thesis/doctoral dissertations must be submitted to the Graduate School for students graduating August 2009
August 4 Last day to petition the Academic Standards Committee for the August 7thmeeting

SESSION 1: Six Weeks (29 class days): May 18 - June 26

May 17 Last day to receive 100% cancellation of fees for an Official Withdrawal or dropping a class for Session 1
May 18 Classes begin for Session 1
May 18 - May 21 Receive 90% cancellation of fees for Officially Withdrawing or dropping a class for Session 1
May 19 Last day to:

  • register for or add a Session 1 class
  • change from audit to credit
  • apply for residency reclassification for the summer sessions
May 21 Last day to:

  • drop Session 1 class without a mark of "W"
  • change from credit to audit
May 22 - May 25 Receive 80% cancellation of fees for Officially Withdrawing or dropping a class for Session 1
May 25 Memorial Day Holiday
May 26 - May 27 Receive 70% cancellation of fees for Officially Withdrawing or dropping a class for Session 1
May 30 - June 2 Receive 60% cancellation of fees for Officially Withdrawing or dropping a class for Session 1
June 3 - June 6 Receive 50% cancellation of fees for Officially Withdrawing or dropping a class for Session 1
June 7 - June 10 Receive 40% cancellation of fees for Officially Withdrawing or dropping a class for Session 1; no fee adjustment after June 10, 2009
June 15 Last day to drop an individual Session 1 class with a mark of "W"
June 26 Last day:

  • of Session 1 classes (no separate examination period)*
  • to Officially Withdraw from all Session 1 classes; withdrawal on the last day of class requires a letter from the instructor of each class indicating that the student did not take the final exam. It cannot be done over ISIS.

SESSION 7: (Class days vary depending on class)

  • Check the Course Listing Section for Session 7 deadlines. Withdrawal on the last day of class requires a letter from each instructor indicating that the student did not take the final exam.
  • Contact the Student Accounts Office at 575-5651 to determine the adjustment (if any) for Session 7 classes, or refer to their Web site.
