IMPORTANT NOTE! PREFACE Instructions in this disaster recovery plan are intended to be of a general nature wherever possible. A moderate amount of expertise in management of LISTSERV and Windows NT is assumed. If local expertise is unavailable, contract support can be arranged through L-Soft International, the vendor for LISTSERV and L-MAIL.

I. HARDWARE PLATFORM

II. VENDOR CONTACT INFO:

III. INSTALLATION MEDIA AND MATERIALS CHECKLIST

1. Windows/NT Workstation 3.51 or later

2. Obtain installation packages for LISTSREV/NT and LSMTP/NT via FTP from FTP.LSOFT.COM. You will also have to obtain current product license keys from L-Soft at this time.

IV. POWER & NETWORK CONNECTIVITY

Exact power requirements are dictated by the PC platform obtained. Planning for a single 20A/120V single-phase circuit should be adequate.

V. SUGGESTED FILE SYSTEM LAYOUT

No specific recommendations. Windows NT Workstation should be configured to use the entire hard drive as a single volume (e.g., a single logical partition formatted as drive C: ).

VI. OFF-SITE BACKUP INFORMATION

No backups are maintained for mailhub.uark.edu. All "live" data are considered to be "in transit" during regular use.

VII. RECOVERY OUTLINE

1. Obtain new equipment as described in Section I.
2. Assess "physical plant" facilities at the cold site; verify that correct power and data connectivity is in place (one 20A/120V power feed, ethernet or fast ethernet; air conditioning, rack or table space, cables, etc).
3. Connect the new system.
4. Make sure you know the IP address and domain name assigned to the new system before proceeding.
5. Complete any vendor-prescribed pre-installation diagnostics.
6. Install Windows NT Workstation.
7. Obtain and install LISTSERV/NT and L-SMTP/NT (Instructions included with software distribution). Site-specific configuration should be tuned to handshake with LISTSERV/VM on UAFSYSB.UARK.EDU.
8. As soon as possible, re-evaluate desirability of backups. It should be possible to proceed with normal operations at this point.

It's difficult to offer a precise estimate of time required for "cold recovery" of mailhub.uark.edu under these circumstances. Once new hardware is received, a minimum of one-half working day should be expected.
