    Mark graduated with Ph.D. in Philosophy from the seminary in May; now teaching 6 classes at UTA & TCC. Will teach 7 classes this spring.   • Savage, Daniel -Daniel Savage has been selected as the 2006 Velma Amis Award recipient. Daniel is a member of FBC Fayetteville and a student leader in the Baptist Collegiate Ministry at the University of Arkansas. Daniel will be attending New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in the fall of 2006.
    The  Velma Amis Award was established by Dr. Edward Amis, Professor of Chemistry at the University of Arkansas, in honor of his wife. The award is given to a deserving student who will be attending a Southern Baptist seminary to prepare for Christian ministry.  Since 1969 this award has provided financial assistance for 29 different UofA students who are now evangelists, pastors, missionaries, college professors, collegiate ministers and pastor’s wives.

Eastman Chemical, Davey's employer for the last 27 years, was sold & as of November 1, became FutureFuel Chemical Company. Brenda continues to work part time as a hearing reporter going between Batesville & Jonesboro.

  • Stari, Brett- Howdy all!

       Well… lots of updates to fill you in on. Brittany is doing MUCH better but we’re still not out of the woods with her eyes quite yet. The left eye, after two surgeries, has stabilized in pressure and the optic nerve has returned to normal. However, the right eye now has elevated pressure readings (although no accompanying swelling/enlarging of the optic nerve yet). We’re using drops to hopefully regulate and lower the pressure in this eye and will return to Dallas around the 25th of October for another exam under anesthesia. If ! the pressure is still unhealthily elevated she will likely have surgery on that eye to relieve the pressure. Please believingly ask God to heal Brittany’s eyes, to regulate the pressures and help her to see normally again.

        On the job front… I started as Executive Pastor at The Fellowship at Plum Creek on October 1st so we have moved to Austin, TX. The church is 3 years old and has already planted another church in the area that is also thriving. It’s an exciting opportunity to work under an experienced pastor/planter to be seasoned a little more in ministry before I would either plant another church, assume the leadership role here, or go pastor somewhere else. We’ll simply see what God does but it’s going to be VERY exciting here for the next few years.
