BS Degree in Urban Horticulture and Landscape Design, University of Arkansas , Fayetteville , 5-1980

MS Degree in General Agriculture with a minor in Horticulture, University of Arkansas , Fayetteville , August 1992

12/1992 – Present: Extension Horticulture Specialist: State office of the Cooperative Extension Service. Serves as the Master Gardener Statewide Coordinator, and gives state leadership to the program of consumer horticulture. Responsible for providing information to the 75 counties for all areas of horticulture related to home gardening, with an emphasis on ornamentals. Media work includes a weekly call in radio show on KARN from 9:00 am – 11:00 am Saturday mornings. The second hour goes out on the statewide ARN network. Weekly gardening columns in the Arkansas Democratic-Gazette. Monthly columns in Arkansas Gardener magazine. A television show airs on AETN and cable stations statewide called Today's Garden with Janet Carson. 2003 Recipient of the John White Award for Excellence in Extension Education.

7/80 – 11/92: County Extension Agent- Agriculture for the Pulaski County office of the Cooperative Extension Service. Primary area of responsibility in horticulture program, both consumer and commercial. Started the Master Gardener volunteer program in 1988

Personal: Married, with two children.
