Program Information

Fellowships

The Department of Education Reform's PhD in Education Policy received its final approval from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education on July 25, 2008. We are accepting applications for new students to start in Fall 2009.

Prospective students should complete the Fellowship and Program Application here. Materials should be submitted by January 10.

More information on the doctoral program's requirements, instructors and course schedules can be found here.

Comments on the new program:

  • “Your faculty has assembled an absolutely terrific Ph.D. program ... that eventually will be rated within the nation’s top 10.”

    - Professor James Guthrie, chair of Vanderbilt’s Peabody College Department of Leadership, Policy and Organization

  • “You have managed to hire a startling group of researchers who ... are very well positioned to offer this program. ... The other current producers – Stanford, Harvard, Michigan – will immediately see that they have competition.”

    - Professor Eric A. Hanushek, the Paul and Jean Hanna Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University

Fellowships

The Department of Education Reform offers competitive merit-based fellowship awards, providing full tuition plus an attractive
annual stipend for qualified applicants.

Each of these awards allows for the candidate to gain valuable experience by doing research for 20 hours per week in the Department of Education Reform. The Department of Education Reform can offer up to ten (10) doctoral fellowships.

For more details on Doctoral Fellowships please visit the 'Doctoral Fellowship and Program FAQ' or download the 'Doctoral Fellowships and Program FAQ' .pdf version.

If you are interested in applying for a Doctoral Fellowship, please follow the admission and application process outlined here.

The Department is pleased to report that many of our former PhD Fellows and staff have accepted excellent positions elsewhere in the academic world or in the field of public policy. Learn more.
