Other Departments

The Institute works with the Departments of Food Science, Animal Science, Poultry Science and Agricultural and Biological Engineering to utilize their staff of expertise and get the research being conducted to the end-user as fast as possible. This approach brings the various commodity groups (red meat, poultry, vegetables, wine, rice and fruit) all under the title of food. This approach creates an atmosphere of cooperation between the Institute and the University departments. In addition, it utilizes faculty members with diverse areas of expertise from the cellular level, to microbiology, to industry production and in areas of red meats, poultry, vegetables, fruits, grains etc. All this allows the Institute to help food processors respond dynamically and proactively to 1) a changing state, national and global market base and 2) a changing production/technology manufacturing environment.
