The UA Jazz Ensemble
The 2003 U of Arkansas Jazz Ensemble
Directed by James Greeson & Claudia Burson

The University of Arkansas Jazz Ensemble is an 18 piece jazz big band.  It is directed by Dr. James Greeson and the combos are led by Ms. Claudia Burson.  It is a one credit class (MUEN 3471) which meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, at 11:30 - 12:20. An audition is required for admission.

Concert Information

The UA Jazz Ensembles Concert will be Friday Nov. 16, 2007 in the Arkansas Union Theater

The University of Arkansas Jazz Ensembles under the direction of James Greeson will perform a Fall concert featuring a twenty piece big band playing music by Count Basie, Matt Harris, Sammy Nestico, Bob Mintzer and others.  The student combo Pentomino will also be featured along with a faculty jazz trio of Claudia Burson, piano; Ben Harris, guitar and Jim Greeson on bass.

The Summer Jazz Concert Series

The Summer Jazz Concert Series brings in fine jazz musicians from the across the United States to be featured with our local musicians including the fabulous Claudia Burson on piano, Darren Novotny on drums, Jim Greeson on bass, along with Al Gibson, Gerry Sloan, Larry Cangelosi and others.  Each summer there are five concerts and the admission charges are ridiculously low.

In past years we've featured such artists as Bobby Watson,  Charles Thomas, Fred Hamilton, Carol Comer, Lisa Henry, Rex Richardson & Tom Brantley, and many more.
