(Miller Analogies Test)

ELIGIBILITY: This test is accepted by some graduate schools in place of the GRE (Graduate Record Exams)

TEST DESCRIPTION: The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is a high-level analytic ability test requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies. Most of the analogies on the MAT are verbal analogies, and a few are quantitative. The test consists of 100 partial analogies that are to be completed in 50 minutes.

The MAT is intended to assess your ability to recognize relationships between ideas, your fluency in the English language, and your general knowledge of literature, philosophy, history, science, mathematics, and fine arts. There is no foreign-language edition of the MAT. You are not permitted to use a dictionary or any other reference aid when taking the MAT. (Taken from the official MAT/Psychological Corp. website)

FEES: The fee for this exam is $70.00, payable by check made out to UofA or cash.

REGISTRATION: There is no pre-registration for this exam. On the day of the exam, examinees should report to Hotz Hall, Room 710, at 2:30. Registration will take place at that time, and testing will begin as soon as all examinees present are checked in. Please bring the fee, and two forms of ID (one should be photo ID).

TEST PREPARATION: Visit the website below for prep information.

ID REQUIREMENT: For examinees testing within their country of citizenship (American students) any government-issued identification such as passport, drivers license, state ID, and military ID are all acceptable. If you are not testing in your own country of citizenship, you MUST bring your passport in order to be tested.

SCORE REPORTS: Scores are mailed to both you and the institution(s) you designate. You should receive them within 4 weeks. If after six weeks you have not received your score report, call The Psychological Corporation at 1-800-622-3231 to see if there is a problem in reporting your score.
