Scouting University: March 6th, 2010

Another update from the Scouting University Chairs
Dear Scout Leaders,

In the past, we have allowed day-of registration for scouts who did not complete a registration packet.  However, we will not be able to do that this year due to a surge in the number of scouts registered.  We are quickly approaching 900 scouts and due to class capacities and liability reasons, we will not be able to accomodate scouts who wish to register the day of.  Registration closes Feb. 26th and all registrations/additions/changes to class preferences must be received by this date.

Thank you,
Megan West and Alana Hale

An update from the Scouting University Chairs

Dear Scout Leaders,

First, we would like to thank all of you have registered so far.  We are excited that we have had so much interest in Scouting University and are looking forward to seeing you on March 6th!

For those who have not yet registered, there are a few things that we would like to stress.

Citizenship in the Community is now a half day class.  If a scout lists Citizenship in the Community as one of their choices, they need to list another half day class.  If no other classes are listed, we will be forced to assign the scout to any other half day class with seats available.

Please check to make sure that scouts list their top 3 preferences.  If a scout lists only one or two classes and those are not available, we will be forced to assign that scout to any class that has open seats.

We will no longer accept registrations via email.  We must have payment before we can process registration and it is impossible for us to do this electronically.  Even if you are sending a check in the mail, we will not process your registration until we receive the check.  It does not mean you will get your registration in sooner, nor is it an efficient way for us to organize registration.  Also, if you physically put your envelope in our mailbox, please put the date on the envelope.  This way, we are aware of the date we received your registration.

Late Registration ends Feb. 26th and registration packets must be received by this date, not postmarked.   We cannot accept registrations past this date and will not make any exceptions.  Again, we stress that emailed registrations will not be accepted.

For those who have Scouts that will be there for only half the day, there are certain things we need to know.  We need to know which scouts are going to be checked out early, when they are going to be leaving, and who is going to be picking them up.  The adult that will be picking up the scout must come to the registration booth in the Arkansas Union.  We will send a runner to bring that scout to the Union-Scouts will not be allowed to leave on their own or go anywhere without one of our runners.   We thank you for understanding that this is a precaution in place for the scouts’ safety.

Thank you,
Megan West and Alana Hale

A Letter from the Scouting University Chairs

Dear Scout Leaders,

The Beta Rho Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega will be hosting the annual Scouting University on March 6th on the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville campus.  At this time, we are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the event and forms are available on the website.  Be sure to note that February 26 is the last day for registration.  Registration packets received after February 26 will not be accepted.

Troop leaders will need to fill out a form for their entire troop and send it along with a check to the address listed on the form.  Merit badge classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so we encourage everyone to send in their forms ASAP to ensure that your Scouts get enrolled in the class of their choice.

We thank you for your patience with the technical problems we have had with the website and are especially pleased to announce that parts of the website have been updated .  The pages we have been able to make significant changes to are Registration Forms and Badges Offered.  More information will be posted as we get closer to the event and details are finalized (such as the schedule, the location of opening and closing ceremonies, class or registration updates, etc.).  Please visit this website from time to time to check for updates.

Thank you so much for your continued support of Scouting University!  We’re thrilled to be able to host this wonderful event again in 2010 and eagerly anticipate March 6th!  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us by e-mailing us at scoutingu@gmail.com.  We look forward to seeing you in March!

Thank you,
Megan West and Alana Hale
