Knowledge. Perspective. The Liberal Arts: Powerful.

We invite you to get to know us — and yourself — through a liberal arts education. In Fulbright College, you can study poetry, nanocrystals, philosophy, political systems, art, chemistry — and much more.

As the only college in the nation named after former Senator J. William Fulbright, author of the world's largest educational exchange program, we are committed to offering you a quality liberal arts education and ample opportunites for study abroad. With 19 departments and numerous specialized research centers, Fulbright College offers a variety of majors and minors that are designed to prepare you not only for a career, but for a lifetime of learning.

The mission of Fulbright College is taken from the writings of J. William Fulbright: "The highest function of higher education is the teaching of things in perspective, toward the purposes of enriching the life of the individual, cultivating the free and inquiring mind, and advancing the effort to bring reason, justice, and humanity into the relations of men and nations."

These words also guide the University of Arkansas to this day.

Studies in the liberal arts span everything from ancient Egyptian dynasties to the latest discoveries in nanotechnology. It was Fulbright College students who uncovered the world's largest nautiloid fossil, an eight-foot specimen that lived 325 million years ago. Our graduates are known throughout the world and are found in nearly every field imaginable. We can thank alumnus Robert Maurer for the revolution in communications made possible by his invention of fiber optic cable.
