Assistantships are offered to support superior graduate students interested in pursuing studies in the Middle East, North Africa and/or topics related to the Mediterranean Basin. OUALIFICATIONS: Must be admitted to the University of Arkansas' Graduate School AND a Middle East Studies (MEST)-supported department: Anthropology, Geography (with Environmental Dynamics), History, Political Sciences (with Public Policy or Public Administration), English (with Translation or Comparative Literature). Grades, class standing, GRE scores, prior and/or simultaneous funding, letters of recommendation, and financial need are all considered. Only graduate students enrolled in these departments may be considered for competitive graduate assistance. NOTIFICATION: April 15. Application deadline: February 1. AMOUNT: Up to $11,600 each academic year. ALSO OFFERED: Competitive partial funding for language study in Morocco, Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt, Israel or Jordan, or for summer research projects may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
