Abstracts Checklist

Print this out, check it and turn in with your abstracts

; Citation list

The citations of all abstract sources must be typed on a page or two. This must be turned in with the abstracts or I won't grade them.

; Printout of Web sites

For Web site abstracts only, turn in a printout of the first two pages of the site.

; Each abstract on separate page

; No "new cases," no "lists" and no "articles"

New cases are not accepted, although law review articles or Web sites may be about cases other than those assigned. Lists of links are not accepted. If you find yourself writing something like "there are lots of good links on this site," then you probably need to click on one of those links and write about the content you find there. "Articles" from news magazines, newspapers, trade journals and the like are not accepted unless you find them on a Web site. Don't use the "Nexis" side of Lexis-Nexis -- you'll find unacceptable sources there.

; No "journal" articles unless they are at least 10 pages long.

Be sure to include how many pages (or word count) in your citation. If a source is from a "law review," it's OK regardless of how long it is. If it is a "law journal" or has some other kind of name, it might be acceptable if it's at least 10 pages long. (Some journals are merely magazines.)

; No blogs or Wikipedia (or other "wiki" sites).

; No duplicates.

Watch out especially for duplicated Web sites, because the "root" of the Internet address must be different. Also, the article cannot be the same one published on two different Web sites.

; Turn in first cite list.

For the second abstracts check, I need the "old" cite list (with my red marks on it) and a new one containing the newest 10 abstracts.
