Media Law Class Participation
Being in class and being prepared.
Maximum 10 points for entire semester
I should get the full 10 points because I only
missed one class and was not late for any classes, nor did I schedule
any activities during class time. I was always in class for team
meeting days. I attempted to answer each question you asked me. I kept
up with the lecture with the outlines printed from the Web site.
Asking thoughtful questions in class.
Maximum 10 points for entire semester
I should get at least 8 points for this activity. On
Feb. 12, while you were lecturing on libel, I gave an example of Mitt
Romney calling Mike Huckabee a “hick from a dirtwater state” and I
asked if citizens of Arkansas could sue for defamation. On April 6,
while you were lecturing on broadcast regulations, I talked about my
experience while working as an intern for an advertising agency and the
candidate advertising we bought.
Organizing and making worthwhile
contributions to exam study groups outside of class. Max. 20 points for
entire semester
I should get 15 points for this activity because I
helped organize study groups for the three regular exams. I turned in
the documentation about my group members to you within a week of the
exam and you returned it to me, showing that I had earned 5 points for
each session.
Participating in certain law-related
activities outside class. 2-10 points per activity, no maximum
I should get 14 points for the four outside
activities I participated in. You will find the points in your records
for the four “Three things I
learned” papers.
Participating
in certain in-class activities, maximum about 15 (depends on the
semester)
I should get 10 points for this activity
because I knew the names of four Supreme Court justices, I scored 3
points on the crossword puzzle and I scored 3 points on the FOI
assignment.
Total: 52 points (50 is maximum)
