Media Law (JOUR 3633) -- Developed approach based on case studies that requires high-level thinking, not just memorization of facts.
Ethics in Journalism (JOUR 3333) -- Using debates and online discussion groups to encourage analysis of ethical situations facing journalists.
Editing (JOUR 3013) -- Taught for one semester.
Fundamentals of Journalism (JOUR 1033) -- (formerly Journalistic Style & Usage) Revised curriculum to focus more on preparing students for writing across the media; train and supervise graduate assistant instructors for 1033. Prepare all class materials and maintain class materials on WebCT and Web page.
Departmental Public Relations and Communication:
Organize or coordinate with organizers for departmental events, visitors, speakers, recruitment. Produce and distribute press releases and other materials to publicize events and faculty accomplishments.
Began and continue to administer departmental listserv; coordinate with UA Data Warehouse to update list every semester
Recruitment and Student Involvement:
Coordinated visit by Al Lopez and the Rogers High School Multicultural Club, November 2000, sponsored by SPJ. Led to proposal for the Lemke Journalism Project, a project with financial support of the Chancellor's Office, which trained 18 area Latino high school students to produce a newspaper, Cultural Latin News.
Faculty adviser for Society of Professional Journalists since Fall 2000.

Taught sessions in copyright, academic honesty and use of class Web pages. Taught session on group work for incoming graduate assistants, Fall 2000. Served on steering committee to plan teaching retreats, 2000-2001.
