Who Says Sociology Is Not Exciting?

****Bio-sketch****

Welcome!

My name is Lori Holyfield and here is a brief background sketch to let you know something about my sociological interests. I graduated from the University of Georgia in 1995. I've been teaching introductory sociology since 1991. My Ph.D. is in Sociology but my specific areas of interest include: social psychology (symbolic interaction), sociology of culture, sociology of emotions, and finally, the sociology of adventure.I wrote a dissertation titled, "Generating Excitement: Organizational and Social Psychological Dynamics of Adventure." I was most interested in how companies shape the emotional experiences for consumers in order to make them feel that they've experienced a true adventure. I participated in white water rafting, ropes courses, and white water guide school (hence, the picture above). I love sociology and I want you to feel free to ask questions, stop by and chat (221 Old Main), or drop me an email at Dr. Lori Holyfield
