MISSION STATEMENT

"The National Press Photographers Association is dedicated to the advancement of photojournalism, its creation, editing and distribution, in all news media. NPPA encourages photojournalists to reflect high standards of quality in their professional performance and in their personal code of ethics. NPPA vigorously promotes freedom of the press in all its forms. To this end, NPPA provides continuing educational programs and fraternalism without bias, as we support and acknowledge the best the profession has to offer."

The National Press Photographer's Association is a forum for still and video photographers to network, learn and discuss the business of photography. The University of Arkansas NPPA provides students the opportunity to meet working photographers, learn more about their chosen field and establish contacts in the working world of photography.

The photography project for the year 1997 included a trip to Washington D.C. to cover the 53rd Presidential Inauguration. There is a photo gallery with features from the trip.

If you have any questions or are interested in becoming a member of NPPA, contact the Faculty Advisor:   Eric Gorder.
