September 17 to December 3 and March 4 to May 19. Fairly common transient in spring and uncommon transient in fall.
During the northward migration of spring, flocks of these birds make regular stops in pastures, flooded fields, and
pond flats. On April 8, 1985, for example an estimated 80 were in a pasture east of Fayetteville. Fall records almost
always involve isolated sightings of single birds.
